Seneca Falls--William J. (SENATOR) Monaghan Sr. of Auburn Rd.,Seneca
Falls passed away on July 21, 2026. Funeral arrangements are on Thursday
July 30th at 11:00 am with Military services held at NYS Veterans
Cemetery, Finger Lakes. Memorials may be made to North Seneca Ambulance
in Waterloo or the Canoga Island Association at 3347 Rt. 89 Seneca
Falls, NY 13148.
Bill was born in Rochester,NY the son of Lawrence J. and Dorothy Mark
Monaghan. Bill resided in several towns in New York State including
Rush, West Bloomfield, Lima, Nunda,and also in Miami, Florida for four
years.Bill was a veteran of the Korean war, having served in the army.
Bill was a Volunteer Fireman in Rush, Lima and Nunda fire departments.
He was a Volunteer with the North Seneca Ambulance service for 7 years
as an EMT and Dispatcher. He also was the Asst. Director of operation
for one year. He was a Volunteer of the Seneca County Sheriffs office in
the Marine Patrol since 1944 on Cayuga Lake. He was the Fire Chief and
president of the Canoga Island Cottagers Association for 18 years. Bill
was a past member of the American Legion Posts in Rush, Henrietta,Lima,
Nunda and Seneca Falls. He was also a member and Past Quarter Master of
the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Seneca Falls.
Bill retired from the Seneca Falls East Apartments as Maintenance
Mechanic where he lived for over 30 years. He was also a Bake Master at
Peach a Birds Restaurant in Seneca Falls.
He is survived by three children, daughter Shawn Auer of Lenior, NC, son
William Jr. (Deanna) of Fayette, NY and Kevin P. of Rochester, NY.
Brother-in-laws Don Shaw, Allen Cole and Mike Harold. Two grand
daughters Shannon and Sobian Auer of Hickory, NC.
Predeceased besides his parents, by his wife Denise Harold and two
sisters, Jeannette Shaw and Pat Cole and brother Lawrence H. Monaghan.
